Followers on Twitter.. not for sale.
I was sitting with my wife at dinner and my iPhone started buzzing in my pocket like it was ringing, I didn't reach in to get it, after all, I was at dinner and wasn't on-call for social monitoring until the late evening shift. But then it kept buzzing and buzzing, not since a client's performance at Carnegie Hall had it buzzed so much! - Okay, "Sorry darling, I need to see what this is." ... A client, anxious for a launch of a new app still not released, had purchased followers without telling the team. We had 16,000 followers, most fake with tweets in Russian, in about 20 minutes. Because we hadn't even launched yet, my notifications were on. They were on Hootsuite and on Twitter and they were spamming my email inbox...
Saturday was spent cleaning the account, explaining why you don't buy followers to a client who's client had made the offense and resetting passwords etc. Not that I mind billing for the extra time for the weekend, it was just that look on my wife's face when I pulled the phone out a dinner. That part, that's the part you can't bill for.
