Hon. Nancy VanReece Joins Roots Productions, LLC; Music City Roots
Nashville change agent comes aboard in new public affairs and business development role as the show builds to its new chapter at the Roots Barn in Madison.
Roots Productions, LLC proudly announces Hon. Nancy VanReece will join its team May 1 in the newly created position of Vice President, Public Affairs and Business Development. The longtime community leader and Metro Council Member will represent the show and the new Roots Barn, a 1,000-person capacity, flexible music venue set to open in Madison, TN in early 2022.
VanReece, a veteran of the music business and beyond, with city-shaping achievements in the arts, marketing, social media, organization-building, and public service, was instrumental in bringing Music City Roots to Madison. Besides helping to secure the land and negotiating innumerable legal details, she worked to integrate the Roots Barn into the emerging Madison Station Blvd development, which ties together a future park, historic Amqui Station, FiftyForward Madison Station, a tree-lined complete street, and a future residential/commercial district.
“Everything I’ve done for the last 40 years in the music business has given me the unique skill set to help put together a place where all people feel like the music of their roots has a home,” VanReece says. “The people involved are my kind of people. We have the vision to build something that lasts. Long after I’m gone, there will still be music at the Roots Barn. This is will be a place where stories will be told, lives will be inspired and memories will be made. I am so very happy to be invited to join this team and look forward to engaging other brands and organizations in partnership.”
MCR Executive Producer John Walker welcomed VanReece aboard by saying, “We’ve built the MCR dream team over the years one passionate soul at a time. Nancy is a powerful and dynamic addition to the family.”
Starting in 1983 as an announcer and program director for three radio stations in both Texas and Oklahoma, VanReece moved to Nashville in 1986 to continue in artist management, music publishing, and marketing. She was nominated for CashBox Magazine’s Radio Promoter of the year in 1989. VanReece worked as Sr. Licensing Executive at BMI from 1998-2007, specializing in corporate and healthcare markets. She was awarded the Steine Public Leadership in the Arts Award in 2017, was named by the Business Journal as one of the most Influential Women of the
Year in Nashville for 2019, and was noted on the Nashville Post INCharge List for Policy in Government & Politics in 2021.
About Music City Roots:
Founded in October of 2009, Music City Roots grew into a nationally admired multi-media platform for outstanding and diverse music, tying Nashville heritage and American traditions to a global conversation. In its years-long runs at the Loveless Cafe Barn and the Factory in Franklin, TN, Music City Roots redefined variety in roots music, welcoming all into a community of fans and creators. The show created a nationally syndicated radio program, a freely available podcast, a vast YouTube channel, and five seasons of outstanding music programming on American Public Television. After a pause, MCR returns in early 2022 in its first-ever dedicated venue. The Roots Barn, now under construction, will be a 1,000-capacity showplace for music and events in the heart of historic Madison, TN, ushering in a new chapter in the life of the show and Music City itself.
