When you ask any Nashvillian about their impressions of East Nashville they are sure to mention the beautiful homes in the area. As the area struggles with the balance of progress and the results of gentrification the homes themselves remain to tell their own stories. They carry with them the lives in this city nearly one hundred years ago. This home at 1606 Woodland, just 5 blocks from Bongo Java is the property of Doug Taylor. He always has prayer flags waiving from the large tree welcoming the mindful to pause and reflect.

Artists in the 37206 area will celebrate their neighborhood with an art exhibition at Bongo Java East (BJRC) during the month of August 2006. Artists were invited to create a piece of artwork that celebrates EAST NASHVILLE!

Artist, curator and part-time resident of East Nashville Andee Rudloff came up with the idea over coffee with artist, resident and "hoo-Lah hoop-R" Sunny Becks. Artists in the show include Erika Johnson, Melissa Duke, Nancy Van Reece, Stacey Irvin, Coral Smith, Wendy Alexander, Franne Lee, Rachel Paul, Meg MacFayden, Julie Sola, Sunny Becks, Andee Rudloff, Gregg Boling, Brooke Ludwick and more.?

The exhibition "37206" will run from August 1-31, 2006
Reception Saturday, August 5th from 4pm to 6pm.
