Where are your favorite creative spaces, how did you find them and how often do you get there? Please leave your comments below.

You’ll see in the video a blank canvas -  leave in the comments an object, color or place and we’ll begin our community abstract! If you don’t comment the painting won’t happen – chime in! Let’s create.

Ok, so I listened to the video now. My creative space is kinda small right now. We are always in various stages of allowing my creative room to be habitated by children, friends or family. Not all at once thank goodness! But I do have this little space that I fiercely fight for. It is a futon chair that is in a nook in our bedroom. I love this chair because it is like a chaise lounge, or it can be folded up more to be like a regular chair so your feet will be on the floor. It is by a window so I can look out at the trees and the birds and just let my mind wonder. In that space I read, write, meditate or sleep too, whatever I need at the time. Many people have tried to talk me into giving my chair to them because they can sense its power but I refuse to give away my peaceful place. At our house the rule is don’t talk to me while I’m sitting in my chair. Maybe one day I’ll get my entire room back permanently but for now the chair is enough.

I have an adirondack chair on the front porch that has a similar rule attached!

I love having a creative sister like you. When I am creating I like to stay focused on family and the design and flow of color and shape and how they relate. I’m feeling really good tonight because I just spent 8 hours scrape booking at crop night at Micheal’s Craft shop. I try to be ready to work while Mom and Dad are traveling so I can use their house (sometimesomes their whole living room). But the computer room and kitchen are where I work at home. Ricky paints in the kitchen and splatters paint. But I just try to clean it up and smile. ( His paint brushes are 40 years old; the ones he like to use)

Oh I love old brushes. When I talk to a guitar player they talk about guitars they way I feel about brushes. Would you like to contribute a color to the abstract group painting? – We have cool green fuscia, emerald green and red so far.

How about some yellow. I love sunny yellow. Maybe in circles?

Nancy VanReece August 1, 2010 at 10:29 am

Wonderful suggestion!

Of course! Periwinkle! Thank you Moncia – These colors will show up in the 3rd photo!

Lori Johnson August 2, 2010 at 11:35 pm

I like red because I like rubies. Do you suppose the big sun could grow some beautiful little rubies like flowers?

Nancy VanReece August 3, 2010 at 8:19 am

more red – got it

Brad Blackman I went a couple of years where just about every canvas I did was toned with cerulean blue before I did anything else to it. I got tired of that and then everything went all gray. I need to get colorful again.

Nancy VanReece Color is a good thing. If you see my works up at Crema you’ll notice that even though there are different themes there is a true color pallet that I just give into every time.
